We were over the moon that our article on the best classic car museums in the UK went down so well with readers! Many people wrote in with their reviews and suggestions. However, after looking at the comments it was clear that it wasn’t really possible for us to keep it to just five suggestions - so here’s another five, in no particular order, that come highly recommended!

First up, Lakeland Motor Museum is a must-visit destination for car lovers and history buffs alike, offering up a fascinating journey through automotive history. Located in the scenic Lake District, this museum boasts an impressive collection of over 30,000 exhibits, including classic cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Highlights here include an amphicar built to swim through water, the world’s only surviving Tri-van, and many iconic brands from across the world. The museum also features a tribute to the legendary Campbell family and their world speed record-breaking achievements, complete with replicas of the Bluebird vehicles. With interactive displays, a riverside café and a picturesque location, what’s not to like?

Moray Motor Museum, located in the scenic town of Elgin in the Scottish Highlands, is another great destination for classic car lovers. This museum is home to an impressive range of classic and vintage vehicles, from elegant pre-war models to some fantastic post-war British cars. Some popular exhibits include a 1910 Daimler Tourer, a 1929 Bentley 4.5 litre and a 1936 Jaguar SS100. Each vehicle has been lovingly preserved, allowing visitors to witness the craftsmanship and innovation that define different eras of history. The museum’s exhibits also include motorcycles and a multitude of historic motoring memorabilia that add depth to the story of Scotland’s motoring past. With its knowledgeable volunteers and cosy atmosphere, this museum (housed in an old mill) offers a warm, informative experience that celebrates the legacy of many classic vehicles.

Nestled in the picturesque Dee Valley, the museum features an array of classic cars, motorcycles, and memorabilia spanning the 20th century. Some of the highlights here include rare, beautifully preserved and sometimes quirky vintage vehicles, a spectacular 1962 Triumph TR4, and many displays showcasing the evolution of motoring through the decades. The museum’s friendly atmosphere allows visitors to really get up close to the exhibits and appreciate both their craftsmanship and their stories. With its stunning location and nostalgic charm, this museum offers a delightful trip down memory lane for visitors of all ages. Do check the website before visiting, however, as they seem to be closed at certain times of the week at present.
