With its unmistakable silhouette, unrivalled performance and enduring appeal, the 911 has become a true icon in the world of sports cars.   The story of this car began in 1963 when the first prototype, initially known as the 901, was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, due to a naming conflict with Peugeot, Porsche later changed the name to 911. This rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive marvel introduced a groundbreaking design that would set it apart from its contemporaries.   Over the years, the Porsche 911 has undergone several transformations while staying true to the timeless design philosophy. From the classic round headlights and sleek body lines of the early models to the more muscular and aerodynamic shapes of the modern versions, each generation has brought its own unique charm to the table. For a brief period in the 1960’s, a more affordable version - dubbed the 912 - was introduced in both the coupe and targa-top variants, and for a short while, this outsold the 911. Despite its various evolutions, Porsche has masterfully preserved the unmistakable DNA of the 911, ensuring that it remains instantly recognisable on the road.   The Porsche 911 has always been synonymous with outstanding performance. The engine's placement at the rear provides excellent weight distribution, contributing to its nimble handling and precise steering. From air-cooled, flat-six engines to the more powerful water-cooled variants, Porsche has continuously pushed the boundaries of engineering excellence.
